Obituary of Myron Gulachok

Myron Gulachok’s spirit left his body on Thursday, January 23, 2014 and was united with Christ in Heaven. He was 85. Myron was born in Binghamton on March 3, 1928 to the late, Michael and Julia (Moreyko) Gulachok. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Madaline “Joann” on Dec. 9, 2011; two sisters, Sophie and Mildred; brother, Walter. He is survived by his two sons, Mryon Gulachok and Diona Wells, Michael and Nataliya Gulachok; sisters-in-law, Nancy Davis, Doris Davis; numerous nieces and nephews. Together Myron and Madaline created a beautiful home and life along the Susquehanna River in Owego. He was selflessly devoted to his family, friends and neighbors. Myron served honorably with the U.S. Marine Corp. during WWII. After WWII, he came home and assisted his parents at the Oasis Restaurant in Johnson City, until 1958, when he started the Catatonk Coffee Break. Myron was employed for 26 years as a Master Tool Grinder with Morse Chain Borg-Warner, Ithaca, NY. He greatly appreciated being given the opportunity to learn a skill and provide for his family. He was mechanically inclined and could repair just about anything. His favorite past times were fishing, hunting, gardening and polka dancing. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego with the Rev. Ivan Synevsky of St. John’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell, NY. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
