Obituary of Gertrude Burch

Gertrude “Trudy” Burch; 94, of Owego passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2015. Mrs. Burch was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Adam S. Burch, Jr.; brother, Howard Mathewson. She is survived by her children, Valerie Kline, Lake Placid, FL, Adam Burch, III, Owego, NY; James and and his wife, Edeth Burch, Owego; four grandchildren, Ronald, Stephen, Jason, Adam, IV; six great-grandchildren, Sascha, Serena, Owen, Joshua, Jackson, Jefferson; sister, Sandra Larsen, Grand Island, NY; sister-in-law, Peggy Mathewson, North Carolina. Mrs. Burch retired from IBM, Owego after 17 years of service. “Trudy” was a former Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader, was active with the Ti-Ahwaga Community Players, member of St. Patrick’s Church, Owego, former Parish Counsel Member, Altar Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of the Americans, having served three terms as Grand Region of the Local Court and two terms as District Duputy, covering subordinates courts of Ithaca, Elmira and Waverly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 300 Main St., Owego. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego.
