Obituary of James D. Boland

James D. Boland, Sr., 80, of Owego and Naples, FL passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, August 23, 2016. Mr. Boland was predeceased by parents, Harold and Ann (Hall) Boland; his wife of 58 years, Alice (Jaros) Boland; two sisters, Shonnie Lozzi, Kathleen Kersat. He is survived by his beloved children, Jolie (Scott) Potter, Judi (Steve Brown) Crotsley, James (Sandy) Boland, Jr., Jana (George) Bowen, Jill (Skip) Hornick, Jon (Amy) Boland, all of the Owego area; grandchildren, Kyle, Evan and Eric McDonald, Caleb and Coltyn Crotsley, Robert Hall, Lisa Wakeman, Shawn Crotsley, Tyler and Kirsten Boland, Charlsie and Malley Bowen, Madison, Javan, Braelyn Hornick, Wylie, Oriah and Atlas Boland; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosemary (Nicholas) Holobosky, Judith DeSantis; several nieces, nephews , cousins and his dear friend, Betsy Snyder. Jim graduated from Owego Free Academy. He was employed with the Owego Police Department, A & P Foods, and IBM. Jim was very proud to be a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club. Jim and Alice enjoyed their “winter home” in Naples, FL, where they were surrounded by their extended Crystal Lake Family and friends. Jim loved to drive his red Miata convertible, spending quality time with his grandchildren and will be greatly missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 300 Main St., Owego. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego.
