Obituary of Lorraine C. Schrader

Lorraine C. Schrader, 93, formerly of Pittsfield, MA and recently of Vestal, NY died on Friday, May 5, 2017 as a result of declining health.  Lorraine was born on the family farm in Cobleskill, NY.  She graduated from Cobleskill High School and Middlebury College.  Lorraine was a teacher in the Pittsfield School District for 27 years.  She enjoyed teaching, golf (had a hole in one), her beloved Boston Red Sox, bridge games, traveling with her teacher friends and her sister and brother-in-law, Friday evenings you could find her with her lady friends having dinner and catching the latest movie.  Lorraine was a greeter at the First United Methodist Church and volunteered with spring luncheons.  Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, Cecil and Ethel (Smith) Guernsey; sister, Ruth  Guernsey, twin sister, Kathryn and her husband, Richard Smith; husband of 28 years, Roger Schrader, son, William Schrader.  She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Marnie Schrader; grandson, Roger Schrader; granddaughter, Lorrie (Charles) Rietman, great-grandddaugher, Lilliana; great-grandson, Nathaniel; two nieces, Linda (John) Carmon,  Arlene (Everett) Molony; several great nieces and nephews.  There will be a private graveside service at the Cobleskill Rural Cemetery, Cobleskill, NY.  In Lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in Lorraine’s memory to: First United Methodist Church, 53 Penn St., Pittsfield, MA  01201.  Condolences may be made to Lorraine’s family at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com.
