Obituary of Neva Marie Jantz

Neva Jantz, 96, of Owego, passed away Friday, October 27, 2017 surrounded by her family at home.  Neva was predeceased by her parents, Giovanni and Scholastica Cavataio; husband, Herman Jantz; five brothers, James, Samuel, Thomas, John and J. Paul Cavataio; sister, Pauline Oliver.  She is survived by her three sons and daughter-in-law, Joseph Jantz, Thomas Jantz, John and Donna Jantz; three grandchildren, Karl (Justyne), Harrison and Anna Jantz; several nieces and nephews.  Neva was born in Auburn, New York and lived there till the age of 14, then moved to Owego.  She graduated from Owego Free Academy in 1939.  She was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish for 82 years and a member of the Altar Rosary Society.  Neva worked with her family at the Elbow Restaurant and volunteered for Meals-On-Wheels, was a member of the Open Door Mission Board of Directors and a member of Sunset Gardeners.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 300 Main St., Owego, NY.  Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Friday Evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego.
