Obituary of Rose Anne O'Connell

Rose Anne O’Connell nee Fidurski, born July 27, 1944 the daughter of Julia Andrews Fidurski and Peter Fidurski died February 17, 2021 at the Good Shepard Nursing Facility. Rose was predeceased by her parents and her beloved, Patrick D. O’Connell, to whom she was married for 50 plus years. Rose is survived by her siblings, Kathryn (Francis) Maguire, Binghamton, NY, John Fidurski, Summit, SC, Helen (Andrew) Cohen, Menands, NY, Paula (George) Welch, Pine City. NY; nieces and nephews, James Maguire, Maureen Shelp, Laura Tramontin, Barbara Cohen, Mathew Cohen, Betsy Lafae, Joy Casciotti, Marian Welch-Quigley. A lifelong resident of Owego, NY, Rose, despite multiple health problems, was active in her community and St. Patrick’s Parish. Rose retired from IBM. She and Pat enjoyed many trips up and down the East Coast bird watching and collecting hand made pottery. Rose was a beloved sister, aunt, great aunt, and friend. She was the hub of our family, loving us all unconditionally and hosting many holiday gatherings. She willingly took on the responsibility of caring for our parents as they aged, bringing Mom to live with her in the end. We will all remember her for her extraordinary intellect, sharp wit, and welcoming spirit. The family would like to extend their appreciation for the special care received by the entire staff of Good Shepard Nursing Facility. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. St. Patricks’ Church, 300 Main Street, Owego, NY with live streaming of the services at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com (Click obituary). Please note: Covid-19 restrictions will be in effect. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. Flowers will be provided by the family.
