Obituary of Betty A. Shultz

Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Betty Shultz finished her race and was called home on Sunday, July 25, 2021. Betty was predeceased by her loving husband John, their son Gregory, her parents, Carl and Hazel Rieg, her brothers and sisters Bob (Marge) Rieg, Isabelle "Issie" Roberts, Dorothy "Dot" Taylor, Margaret "Pinky" Turecek, Carl "Butch" Rieg Jr., William "Peter" Rieg, Mary (Bob) Striley, Molly Rieg and Anita Hudy. She is survived by her two sons, John (Sue) Shultz and Kyle (Kim Mazza) Shultz, three grandchildren; Dylan Kohlman, Karissa Kohlman and Kelly Shultz, two brothers-in-law Gerry Turecek and David Hudy, two sisters-in-law Dorothy Rieg and Betty Faucett, one special cousin, Sally Heveland and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty worked at IBM Corporation and Chenango Industries. She was in love with her church, The First Presbyterian Union Church in Owego; through the years she was actively involved with Youth Fellowship and served as a Deacon. She was always supportive of her children in all of their activities. She and her husband loved to vacation, especially in Cape May, NJ. She had a love of family gatherings during the holidays and in the summer, culminating with the Rieg family reunion. One of her favorite spots on earth was in the kitchen cooking up "way too much" of one of her families' favorite recipes. She had a real love of the family dogs and cats; most recently counting "Greta" as her very best friend. For close family and friends, a celebration of life service will be held Saturday July 31st at the First Presbyterian Union Church North Avenue in Owego NY. There will be a calling hour at the church from 10:00AM – 11:00AM immediately followed by the service at 11:00AM. Services will be live streamed at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com (click on Betty's obituary). Internment will take place at the Tioga Cemetery Route 17C Owego.
