John M. Swinarski, 67, of Owego, NY passed away peacefully at home on August 23, 2021 after his battle with leukemia. He is survived by his son Jonathan Swinarski (Emily) of South Jordan, Utah, his father Joseph Swinarski Sr. of Owego, his brother Eric "Bear" Swinarski of Owego, his sisters Karen Dunham (Lee) of Owego, Joyce Rozelle of Albany, NY, and Maria Swinarski of Owego. John was predeceased by his mother, Joanne Wallace Swinarski, and his brother, Joseph Swinarski Jr. Born in Bangor, Maine, John spent his childhood in the coal regions of Northeastern Pennsylvania before his family moved to Owego. He spent his adulthood pursuing his passions, both at home and in his travels across the country, with many memorable journeys made in later years with his son. In service to the community, John dedicated many years to the beautification of Owego's Evergreen Cemetery, which will serve as his final resting place. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 27 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 503 Clark St., Waverly, NY. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Owego.
