Obituary of Gary Gene Atkins

Gary Gene Atkins, 71, of Spencer, NY passed away on September 6, 2021 at home surrounded by family. He was born on March 6, 1950 in Endicott, NY to Bernard and Emily Atkins. Besides his parents, Gary was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Ronald Campbell and Gary Fitchpatrick and his grandson, Jacob Kallin. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Barbara A. Atkins; children, Kimberly Swartz (Mike), Jason Atkins (Stephenie), Joe Atkins (Shannon) and Tina Kallin (David); siblings, Janice Fitchpatrick, Karen Robinson and Bernard L. Atkins, Jr. (Kate); brothers-in-law, Mike, Bob, Stan, Ken and Jeff Campbell; sisters-in-law, Lisa Campbell and Billy Jo McMillan; grandchildren, Shelby, Phoebe, Imani, Noah, Presley, Kendra, Ashlyn, Oliver, Justin, Josh, Gabrielle and Joseph; great-grandson, Michael; as well as special nephews and nieces: Gary, Tom, Patrick, Adam, Ashley, Liz and Mike. Gary graduated from Candor Central School in 1969 and continued on to earn an Associates from Tompkins Cortland Community College. He worked as a Foreman at Morse Chain & Emerson Electric before leaving to work at Cornell University and Ithaca College. Gary loved to spend his free time fishing, hunting, hosting barbeques and having a beer with his friends. His family would like to thank Lourdes Hospice for the excellent care that they gave to Gary during the past few weeks. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 2:00pm at Maple Grove Cemetery.
