Obituary of Kathryn B. Potter
Please share a memory of Kathryn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kathryn B. Potter passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 22, 2022. Kay was born in Great Bend, PA on May 6th, 1935 to Eva May Dobson & Paul R. Lockwood. Kay had a very special Aunt and Uncle she spent most of her best younger years with Trude and George Eddleston, Kay loved them both so very much. Kay graduated from Great Bend High School and Ridley Business School. Kay worked at IBM - Owego, she has been referred to as the absolute best secretary IBM ever had. Kay was an inspiration to many, especially young working women. When Kay walked in the room her presence lit it up, her incredible smile would warm every heart. While Kay was the epitome of elegance and good taste, she was fierce- she could and did hold her own with anyone throughout her life. While at IBM, Kay and her friends loved going to the "in spot" for fun - the Owego Treadway. It was there she caught the eye of the owner and it was love at first sight. Kay and Marv married in 1971 and lived a life of love, happiness, and great success. They traveled the world throughout their life together, all over Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean, Hawaii, the Orient - Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok and Bali, Australia, Italy, Greece, Switzerland just to name a few. But no matter where they went, Owego was home. They also spent time on Singer Island - their home away from home for nearly 44 years. They really had it all - together! If you had the pleasure of knowing Marv and Kay, watching their love story throughout the years, you were blessed. They truly were the "Dream Team - Unstoppable Together ". Marv was the risk taker, Kay was the fashion driven, designer, gardener, baker, you name it she did it at the beautiful properties of The Owego Treadway - they complimented each other in every way. Kay was predeceased by the love of her life, Marvin D. Potter in 2008. Kay loved her community and she will be missed by the local eateries that she visited weekly. Kay's family that adopted her and Marv over 30 years ago will miss her every day ~ you will leave a void like no other Kay. Very fitting as Kay was truly one of a kind. Her love and friendship - that beautiful smile she had til the very end will be greatly missed. May we all be a little more like this exceptional lady Kay - filled with Grace, Strength and Inner Beauty - Know your Worth and Live up to It! We would like to thank Kay's special friends ~ Jean Hawkins & Linda Laba, loving caregivers Geri & Sveta, the amazing staff, especially Barb, at the properties that Kay called home for over 36 years - Thank you! Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego with the Rev. Jamie Stevens, officiating. Services will be live streamed at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com (click Kay's obituary). Entombment will follow in the Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Kathryn Potter's memory to the Owego Hose Teams, Inc. β Steamer House, 461 East Main St., Owego, NY 13827, Tioga County Boys & Girls Club, 201 Erie St., Owego, NY or Owego United Methodist Church, 261 Main St., Owego, NY 13827.
