Obituary of Richard Edward Watkins

Richard E. "Richie" Watkins, 63, of Owego, NY, unexpectedly passed away Friday, November 22, 2024 while cruising the Caribbean Islands with his family. Richie was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Jean Watkins; three brothers, David Watkins, William Watkins, Robert Watkins. He is survived by his wife, Karen Watkins; four children, Sam and Jeffrey Christ, Tyler Levene-Watkins, Chase Harman, Lilly Watkins; his pack, Ziti, Pickles, Carmel; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, John Michael and Carla Watkins, Gordon Watkins, Leslie Watkins, Nola Watkins; several nieces and nephews. Richie graduated from the Owego Apalachin School District Class of 1979. He worked for Frito Lay for 33 ½ years and then owned and operated with his wife, Karen, Jackpot Richie's. Richie was a very unique individual with whom many will remember. He was an avid card player, golfer, cook, dog lover, but most of all he loved being a dad. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 15th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
