Earnest Edward "Earnie" Ferris, 89, of Willseyville, New York, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2025, in the comfort of his home. Earnie was predeceased by his parents, William and Mildred (Dykman) Ferris; son, John; brothers, Albert, Carl, Orin, Earl; sister, Kate; and grandson, Roger. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Shirley (Townsend) Ferris; four sons and four daughters-in-law, Raymond (Julie) Ferris, Thomas (Cheryl) Ferris, Alvin (Ruth) Ferris, Edward Ferris (Cristie Tredeau), Judy (Jeff) Jones; grandchildren Ray Jr., Jeremy, Melony, Brenda, Brad, Daniel, Tiffany, AJ, Angela, Thomas, Amanda, Jessica; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Earnie was a jack of all trades. He was giving, caring, energetic, and devoted to anything he set his mind to, especially in raising his children the "right way". Earnie was always doing something. It was rare if he settled down for too long. Something always needed to be fixed, taught, or painted. His nickname was Mr. Fix It. In his spare time, he would go on family outings; the Catskill Gaming Farm was a favorite spot to take his family. At home he had his favorite dog companion, Lady waiting for him. Earnie was a hard worker and enjoyed his job as a custodian for Cornell University. He retired at age 62 and got to spend more time with those he loved most. There were always projects that he would work on that kept him busy. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 137 Main Street, Candor, NY.
