Obituary of Ross Edward Marchewka

Please share a memory of Ross to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The Charismatic Drummer for the "Shout at the Robots Band" played his last Gig, Friday, February 21, 2025. Ross E. Marchewka, 33, of Owego, New York, passed away due to natural causes. Ross is survived by his parents, Rodney and Loretta Marchewka; his brother and sister-in-law, Ryan and Sara Marchewka; his niece and goddaughter, Molly Marchewka; aunts and uncles, Barbara McGuire, Edward and Gail Praslick, Janice and James Matson, Donna Marchewka, Chris Marchewka, Terry and Zelli Marchewka; numerous cousins; his godfather, John McGuire; godmother, Dorothy Dymek; his dog, Sammy. Ross had too many friends to list, but some special people in his life are: Derrick Williams, Brian McBride, Dan D'Abbracci, Dave Mest, Lenny Mantei, Rusty Fuller; his band brothers, Julian Hepworth, Matthew Jayne, Johnathan McBride; four ladies that always treated him special, Andrea McBride, Becky Williams, Jody Seaver and Nancy Jackson – Thank you for always being there. Ross graduated from Owego Free Academy, Class of 2009 and attended Broome Community College. He loved the Pittsburg Steelers, the Pittsburg Penguins, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, The Simpsons, The Office, Seinfeld, skateboarding, cooking, going to concerts and comedy shows, and the band, Phish. Our hearts are heavy, but remembering his spirit will always lift us up. "There is never enough space or breath to capture a life, so these are just thoughts. There's a reason our band was Ross, Jon, Matthew and myself: we're a family. Brothers. And now one of us is gone from this world. He was a golden retriever in human form. Just a perpetual source of love and joy. A big dumb smile like the sun coming over the horizon. He could be the most frustrating person on the planet sometimes, and he had his share of pain in him that I think he didn't let anyone but his closest people see. But he was always so quick with his goofy grin and some kind of joke. No one could ever stay mad at Chewk for long. If you knew him then you're probably thinking of any number of things he did that were purely and totally him. One of my favorite things he would ever do is pull these pearls of crazy insight out of nowhere like some kind of skate Buddha. He loved to create, to care for people, to have a damn good time. As sure as death is just a transition to something else, hopefully greater, we nonetheless grieve for this ridiculous, wonderful star of a human going out." by Julian Hepworth A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. St. Patrick's Church, 300 Main Street, Owego, NY.
