Leanna M. Hartjen, 38, of Owego, New York, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
Leanna was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and nurse whose warmth and compassion touched all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband of 14 years, Joshua Hartjen, and their three beloved children—Molly, Travis, and Bear—who were the light of her life and the heart of her world. Her love for her children was immense and unwavering, and she poured herself into their lives with joy, pride, and boundless affection.
Leanna also leaves behind her mother, Deborah (Weisz) Youngs, and her husband, Chris; two brothers, Joshua Ward and his wife, Jessica, and Kevin Ward and Alison Miller; her sister, Makayla Pitcher; as well as extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
A graduate of Candor High School, Leanna found her calling in nursing and dedicated herself to serving others through her work with UHS Homecare. Her compassion, patience, and gentle spirit made her an extraordinary caregiver, and she brought comfort and kindness into the homes and lives of those she served.
Leanna had a deep appreciation for the natural world. She loved gardening, spending time outdoors, and exploring new places. She especially cherished family vacations—those special times of adventure and togetherness that created lasting memories and strengthened the bond she held so dearly with her loved ones.
