Joan M. Neary, 91, of Owego, New York, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Mercy House of the Southern Tier. Joan was born in Waterloo, New York to the late Nicholas and Katheryn (Fullmer) Serafino. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, John T. Neary; daughter, Karen Neary; three brothers, Marvin Serafino, Peter Serafino, Robert Serafino; her sister, Carol Winterstein. Joan is survived by her three children, Thomas Neary and his partner, Jorge Souza, James Neary and his wife, Melissa, Nancy (Neary) Leahy and her husband, John; four grandchildren and their spouses, Dennis (Kristina) Leahy, Mary (Joe) Grasso, Katharine (Dan) Caruso, Kristen Neary; five great-grandchildren, Hudson, Aurora, Nora Joan, Jack, Camden; sister-in-law, Carol Serafino; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Joan graduated from Waterloo High School, Waterloo, NY. She worked for the Waterloo National Bank and Pierson's Fine Footwear and Boutique, Owego, NY. She will be remembered as a devoted daughter, wife, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, sister, sister-in-law and neighbor. Joan lit up any room with her sparkling personality and attire. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Joan's Lincolnshire neighbors, and her lifetime Owego and Waterloo friends for their unwavering love and support. Private graveside services will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterloo, New York. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joan M.
