W. Gary Nichols, 82, of Owego, New York, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025, surrounded by family. Gary was born in Johnson City, New York to the late Walter B. and Helen M. (White) Nichols. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his six sisters, Alene Short, Betty Moesch, Louise Woodburn, Mary Rader and baby sisters, Janet & Phillis Nichols. Gary is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Amy Nichols; along with a slew of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, his special friend Linda Clayton and their favorite fur baby, Lexi. Gary graduated from Owego Apalachin School District, Class of 1960, He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the American Legion Post #401 and the Glen A. Warner VFW Post #1371. Gary enjoyed breakfasts at the American Legion and Louise's house, Wing Night at the VFW, road trips with his nephews, Bob and David. Gary was a staunch fan of the Boston Red Sox. The family will receive friends Monday, October 27, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. with funeral services immediately following at 11:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Owego, NY. Memorial contributions can be made in Gary's memory to the charity of their choice.
