Matthew T. "Matt" Morris, 67, of Candor, NY, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025. Matt was predeceased by his parents, Marion (Janet) Morris and Donna (Charles) Pritchard; brother, Daniel Morris. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Sandy Miller Morris; two children, Katie (Joshua) Leggett, of Saratoga, NY, Zechariah (Eliza Love) Morris, of Candor, NY; two grandchildren, Aurora and Julian Leggett; brother, Timothy Morris, of Wisconsin. Matt was born in Akron, Ohio and moved to Daytona Beach, Florida to work off shore. That is where he met Sandy, while she was on vacation. Upon moving to New York Matt lived in Binghamton before moving to Candor 40 years ago. He was a NASCAR enthusiast, enjoyed playing his guitar and going on camping trips with friends and family. Matt had a passion for carpentry work and safety on the job site. He was able to combine them into a long career. Starting with Carpenters union in Johnson City. Matt than worked as Code Enforcement Officer for the Town of Candor. Matt retired from NYDOL. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the Candor Congregational Church, with Pastor Melvin Foster officiating. Burial will follow in the Maplegrove Cemetery, Candor, NY. The family is being assisted by the Estey, Munroe and Fahey Funeral Home.
