Jane Eleanor Estelle Obituary

Jane Eleanor Estelle, 90, of Candor, New York, passed away on December 18, 2025, at Sayre, Pennsylvania, after a brief illness.


Jane was born an only child to Eleanor Dickinson (Wheaton) and Arthur Raymond Dickinson on February 3, 1935, in Albany, New York. Jane was raised in Feura Bush, New York, and graduated as Valedictorian from Ravena Coeymans High School in Selkirk NY.


Jane met her husband Charles on a blind date set up by her close friend, and after marriage, they settled on the family farm in Candor, NY. Jane was employed as a secretary for the school and several local law firms before being hired as an Administrative Assistant for the Legal Department at IBM Corporation in Owego, NY, for 27 years. Jane retired from IBM and continued her work for the Loral Corporation.


Jane joined the McKendree Church in September of 1955 and was an active member for 70 years. She served as a Trustee and held the office of Treasurer of the church for 10 years. She is a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Stowell Chapter #495. She served as Matron of that Chapter for several years and also served in 1997 as District Deputy Grand Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chemung, Schuyler-Tioga District, State of New York.


Jane was always one of the first to volunteer for church dinners, chicken barbecues, rummage sales, and countless years of family farm sweet corn sales without ever complaining. Hobbies included Monday game days with friends, traveling, wintering in Florida, and family gatherings.


Jane was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Charles. Jane is survived by her four children: daughter, Barb Morris (Bob), of Candor, NY; son, Dan Estelle (Annette), of Tucson, AZ; son, Tom Estelle, of Northborough, MA; daughter Christy Lucas (Jeff,d.2023), of Granite City IL.; six grandchildren, Gabby, John, Stacey, Terri, Adam, Michael; seven great grandchildren, Keanna, Luca, Alexa, Sohan, Aditi, Caleb, Emma.


Jane will be remembered as a kind, gentle woman of faith with a gift for listening.


The family will receive friends Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. with funeral services immediately following at 12:00 Noon at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 137 Main Street, Candor, New York. Pastor Matt Rowe will officiate. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Candor, New York. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jane's honor to the McKendree Church Trustees, 224 Owego Street, Candor, NY 13743. Donations will go towards the McKendree Church Trustees' Property Improvement Fund.
