Beverly Ann "Bev" Nichols Obituary

Beverly Ann "Bev" Nichols, 84, of Candor, New York, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 10, 2026, surrounded by the family she so dearly loved.

Born in Spencer, NY, to the late Earl and Thelma Barrows, Bev grew up alongside her siblings and her best friend—her twin sister, Barbara. A woman defined by her warmth and creativity, Bev spent her life nurturing the hearts of children. She served as the head teacher at Candor Montessori preschool and later brought her expertise and compassion to the Racker Center Owego Preschool.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. As a dedicated member of Allen Memorial Baptist Church, she spent years mentoring youth as a leader in Awana and Sparkies. Bev had a unique gift for storytelling; an avid Teddy Bear collector, she used her collection as a creative ministry, sharing the Gospel through stories and analogies that illustrated God's love to both children and adults alike.

Beyond her ministry, Bev found joy in the beauty of the world around her. She was a gifted home decorator, frequently lending her talents to church events, and found peace tending to her flower gardens or vacationing in Ocean Grove, NJ.

She is survived by her high school sweetheart and devoted husband, David Nichols; her daughters and sons-in-law, Gina (Chris) Sinicki and Lisa (Brad) Roos; four grandchildren and their spouses, Nicole Sinicki, Erich (Thena) Lindhorst, Kelsey (Dalton) Allen, and Brittany (Keegan) Bush; and six great-grandchildren, Lucille, Lennon, Lorel, Evelyn, Maxine, and Ivy. She also leaves behind her special niece, Rhonda (Gene) Stradley, nephews Glen and Bruce Barrows, her beloved cat, Hans, and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her brothers, Howard and Stanley "Bud" Barrows, and her twin sister, Barbara Adams.

In honoring Beverly's wishes, funeral services will be held privately. She will be laid to rest at Maple Grove Cemetery in Candor, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Beverly's honor to the Family Life Network, P.O. Box 506, Bath, NY 14810, to continue the work of the faith that guided her entire life.
