Pauline Hilda "Polly" Roucek, 87, of Apalachin, NY, peacefully passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at home, surrounded by family. Polly is survived by the love of her life and devoted husband, Joseph Roucek, Sr. They were engaged on Valentine's Day and married for 63 years! She is also survived by her five children and their spouses: Kathy and Brian Prairie, Connie and Tom Langer, Janine and Mark de Souza, Juliane and Bret Pew, Joseph Roucek Jr. and Kimberly Arrington, fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, her brother, Robert Sticklin, and extended family, and a very large circle of friends.

Polly was an extraordinary wife, a remarkable mother, and a compassionate Registered Nurse. Nursing was not a job, it was Polly's calling. She cared for thousands of patients during the 50+ years that she practiced. Her hands healed, but it was her heart that always made the deepest difference. Polly retired from UHS Wilson Medical Center in 2008.

She was a member of the Women's Club of Endicott and a faithful member of the Gospel Chapel of Owego and the South Apalachin Baptist Church. Playing the piano, singing songs, teaching bible school, sewing, and helping others was core to who Polly was.

Polly was always known for her beautiful smile, sparkling personality, kindness, endless generosity, and selflessness. She loved to talk, tell stories, and have fun. Polly was always up for an adventure. She loved life to the fullest!

Polly leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and beautiful memories. She touched and changed everyone and everything in her life. She will never be forgotten and her Spirit will be with us forever.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:45 a.m. with funeral services immediately following at noon at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Owego, NY with Pastor Corey Adams and Rev. Loretta Perry, officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, Montour Falls, NY in the spring.
