H. Edward "Ed" Roberts Obituary

H. Edward "Ed" Roberts, 103, of Candor, New York, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 17, 2026, with his family by his side at the home he was born in. Ed was predeceased by his wife, Florence Roberts; two brothers, Donald Roberts, James Roberts. He is survived by his six children, Lila Hall, Darlene (Rob) Howland, Cindy (Denny) Swartz, Vincent (Joan) Roberts, Marvin (Sue) Roberts, Joseph Roberts; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Doane; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Ed was born on Christmas Day 1922, to the late R. Harold and Iva Bell (Andrews) Roberts. He loved working on the family farm, was employed at Ithaca Gun and retired as an Electronic Maintenance Technician with IBM. Ed was a life member of the McKendree Methodist Church, a charter member of the Spencer/Candor Lions club, a member of the Candor Grange #1466, and served as a deputy for the New York State Grange, lifetime member of NRA and a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club. He drove bus for the Candor School District and was affectionately known as "Mr. Smiley". Ed enjoyed square dancing with his wife, Florence, hunting, archery, his 1950 Farmall M Tractor, bowling, but most of all his time with family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 24th at 10:00 a.m. at the McKendree Global Methodist Church, 224 Owego Street, Candor, NY 13743 with burial to follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Candor, NY. The family will receive friends Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 137 Main Street, Candor, NY. Memorial contributions may be made in H. Edward Robert's memory to the McKendree Global Methodist Church, 224 Owego St., Candor, NY 13827 or the Spencer/Candor Lions Club, P.O. Box 84, Spencer, NY 14883.
