Betty Strever, age 93, formally of Candor, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026. She was a resident of the Sayre Healthcare Center. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Cyrus; her parents, Nellie and Irving Anderson; her sister, Doris Ford; son-in-law, Anthony Amoroso. She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Brian Bokar, Elaine Amoroso, Suzanne and Joe Carucci; five grandchildren, Christina (Nicholas) Sterchak, Karl (Arminda) Mattoon Pletl, Thomas Pletl and Kendall Wolven, Andrew (Brianna) Carucci, Michael Carucci; four great grandchildren, Brooksana and Samantha Sterchak, Jack Mattoon Pletl, Holly Joy Carucci; nieces and nephews. Betty grew up in Owego, NY and was a graduate of Owego Free Academy, and Ridley Lowell School of Business. Betty was an Administrative Assistant and retired from the Farmer's Home Administration. Betty was a life member of Stowell Chapter #495 for over 68 years. She was Matron in 1968, Associate Grand Warder in 1989, and served as Chapter Secretary for 48 years. She was also a member of the Zulieka Temple #9 Daughters of the Nile for 47 years. She served as Queen in 1996 and was Secretary for 18 years. Thank you to the staff of the Sayre Healthcare Center for the care and kindness provided to our mom. Mom enjoyed all the activities, playing bingo, crafts and the resident choir. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. with funeral services immediately following at 11:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 137 Main Street, Candor, NY with the Rev. Phil Jordan, officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Candor, NY.
