Penny Lee Wilson Obituary
Penny L. Wilson, 62, Owego, NY. Born February 23rd, 1964, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 27th, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She is predeceased by both of her parents Roger and Mary Jeffords, loving husband Larry Wilson, and two stepsons, Coby and Robby Wilson. She is survived by her brothers Joe (Virginia) Jeffords, Jeff Jeffords (Laura Mandell), John (Christy) Jeffords, Roger (Marietta) Jeffords, Sister Pauline Saik, her children, Rebecca Bingham, Cynthia Baum (Michael "Scott" Bennett), Michael (Kaitlyn) Wilson, grandchildren, Devante Magee, Cameron Weiland, Colton Weiland-Bingham, Cross Dzikiewicz, Nevaeh Dzikiewicz, Decklyn Baum, Lauren Bennett, Randy Michaels, great grandson Maverick Magee, along with several nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Penny was a devoted believer whose faith was the foundation of her life, she cherished every opportunity to listen to and share the word of God, touching the hearts of many through her love, kindness and unwavering spirit. Her relationship with the Lord brought her great joy and peace, and she recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of her re-baptism, a meaningful milestone that reflected her deep commitment to her faith and spiritual journey.
Her family was her pride and joy; she treasured every moment together, whether gathered together or talking for hours on the phone (which is ironic cause she was always telling us kids to get off the phone when we were younger). Penny loved being surrounded by the people she loved most; her presence brought warmth, laughter, and comfort to those around her. Her grandchildren and her great grandchild made her eyes sparkle, and her beautiful smile lit up the room. Her happiest moments were creating memories and sharing endless love with her family.
Penny also had a deep love for flowers and gardening. She created the most beautiful gardens, filled with lilies, daffodils, black eyed Susans, coneflowers, sunflowers, tulips, snap dragons, roses, and so many others. In her prime, you could almost always find her outside tending to her flowers, taking pride in every bloom and every garden she created.
She loved music and singing, with a playlist as vibrant and varied as her personality, from 40s and 50's rock and roll, to 80's hairbands, to country favorites from every decade, and of course gospel music that reflected her strong faith.
Penny was also a collector at heart. Over the years, her collection evolved from apples, carousels, and ducks to country / rustic decor, antiques, bears and more recently anything she could find on Temu. She loved her wagon wheels, tea cart, and spinning wheel, and a few years back, she and her husband, devoted fans of American Pickers often joked and
dreamed about having the guys from the show come out and look through all their treasures.
Together Penny and her husband shared a lifelong dream of owning a log cabin in North Carolina, and eventually that dream became a reality. Though beautiful and peaceful, she and her son quickly discovered that cabin life, especially preparing for winter, wasn't all it was cracked up to be. In time they moved closer to the ocean, enjoying the coastal life until recently when Penny and her son returned home to NY so she could spend the remainder of her time here on earth surrounded by the love of her family.
The family would like to thank everyone who has been involved and the love, care, and support shown to Penny and her family throughout her illness and this difficult time. Your kindness, prayers, visits, calls, and acts of compassion have meant more than words can express.
Service will be held at St. Lukes Chapel, 92 Main St, Van Etten, NY, on Tuesday May 5th at 2pm, with Rev. Phil Jordan, Officiating. Food and Fellowship will follow the service; anyone willing to bring a dish to pass is more than welcome to do so.
