Obituary of Paul F. Sofranko

Paul F. Sofranko, 90, of Owego passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017.  Mr. Sofranko is survived by his wife of 65 years, Cecilia Sofranko; son, Paul Sofranko; daughter, Janet Iyoob; two grandsons and their wives, Brian and Yuri Iyoob, Timothy and Kerri Iyoob; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and George Pastir; several nieces and nephews.  Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served on the USS Kearsarge during WWII. Paul was a college graduate of Scranton University. After the war he worked for Daystrom Instruments and retired from IBM after 33 years of service.  Paul was a life member of BPOE #1039, member of the American Legion Post #401, IBM Quarter Century Club, American Society for Quality Control, Boy Scouts of America Committee member and served on the Binghamton University Advisory Counsel for eight years.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Patrick’s Church, 300 Main St., Owego, NY.  Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY.  Memorial contributions may be made in Paul F. Sofranko’s memory to the Tioga County Rural Ministry, 143 North Avenue, Owego, NY  13827.  Condolences may be made to Paul’s family at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com.
