Obituary of Isabelle Richards McDermid

Isabelle Richards McDermid, 98, formerly of Candor, NY and currently residing in Centerville, OH, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018, in Centerville, OH.  Isabelle was a 1938 graduate of Candor High School and a 1941 graduate from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY with a B.S. in Ornamental Horticulture.  She met her future husband, William L. McDermid, a teacher with the Candor High School and they were married on August 4, 1943.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William L. McDermid; parents, Arthur L. and Eula Richards, of Candor; son, William L. McDermid, II, of Alaska, four brothers, Robert E., Clifton A., Bruce E., and Wendell G. Richards; two sisters, Alice M. Campbell, Phyllis M. Blackmer.  Mrs. McDermid is survived by three children, Jeanne M. (Woods R.) Brown, Mary M. (Steven) Swift, Gary R. McDermid; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth McDermid; six grandchildren; Woods R. (Lois) Brown, Karyn W. (Kenneth) Grubbs, Amy N. Swift, Andrew J. Swift, William L. McDermid, III, Brianne E. McDermid; three great-grandchildren, Caty J., Clare R. and W. Reece Brown;  several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will held on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 137 Main Street, Candor, NY.  Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Candor, NY. Memorial contributions may be made in Isabelle Richards McDermid’s memory to The Shriners Burn Institute, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL  33607.
