Obituary of Jeanne M. Ferris

Jeanne M. Ferris, 85, of Danby, NY passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018.  Jeanne was predeceased by her parents, Neal and Hazel Laurenson Walle; brother, Elmer Ostergard.  She is survived by her husband of  58 years, Pete Ferris; four sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Diane Talarski, Michael Talarski and Jodi Serling, Robert Ferris and Melissa Todi, John Ferris; seven grandchildren, Michelle Townsend, Crystal Kelly, Allyson Ferris, C.J. Talarski, Michael Ferris, Kyle Ferris, Jaymison Ferris; five great-grandchildren; brother, William “Bill” Walle; several nieces and nephews.  Jeanne graduated from Ithaca High School class of 1951. She worked as a teacher’s aide for the Danby Elementary School and a bank teller for Tompkins Trust Co.  Jeanne was very community minded and was a 60 year member of the Candor American Legion Post #907 Auxiliary and a 60 year member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.  Jeanne will be remembered for her love of dancing, especially the Polka.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Candor, NY.  Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday Evening from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Ithaca.  Condolences may be made to Jeanne’s family at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com.
