Obituary of James P. Dennis

James “Jimmy” Dennis, 74, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at home surrounded by his family.  Jimmy was born on February 28, 1944 in Hazelton, PA to the late Samuel and Ruth Dennis.  Predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Valona and Robert Hines; two nieces, Diane Hines, Shelly Lurcock.  He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Betsi and Jeff Stanton; two grandsons, Grayden and Levi Stanton; two very special nieces, Debbie (Joe) Robinson, Christine (Scott) Stica; several great-nieces and nephews; mother-of-Betsi, Kelly Dennis.  Jimmy was a veteran of the U.S. Army and later retired as night manager of P& C Grocery in Owego.  He enjoyed time with his family and friends, golfing, gambling, but most of all his time with his grandsons.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY.  Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made in James Dennis’s memory to the Baker Fireman’s Fountain Restoration, C/O Owego Hose Teams, 461 East Main St., Owego, NY  13827.  Condolences may be made to Jimmy’s family at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com.
