Please share a memory of Glen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Glen T. Addicott, 96, of Candor, New York, surrounded by his family entered the gates of Heaven on November 23, 2023, at the Robert Packer Hospital. Glen was born August 8, 1927 in White Sulpher Springs, West Virginia to his parents, Ressie and Glenn Addicott, Sr. After graduating from Hickory High School in Hermitage, Pennsylvania, Glen attended the Naval Engineering School in Monterey as a member of the United States Navy. Upon his discharge in 1948, he and his wife, Thelma, relocated to Upstate New York and eventually to Candor where he began his 35-year career as a Quality Control Engineer for IBM, Owego where he contributed to various NASA projects, including Apollo, Gemini, Mercury and the Space Shuttle Projects. He was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club. Glen was well-known throughout the Candor community from coaching youth to being a member of the Candor Booster Club while supporting his children in athletics. When he wasn't working he enjoyed bowling with his wife, Thelma, fishing, projects around the home, and being a master gardener. Upon retirement from IBM, he pursued his love for competition as he was inducted into the New York State Horseshoe Pitching Hall of Fame, in 2012. Glen had many nicknames. He was fondly known by his siblings as "Junior" or as "GT" by some. Others called him "Mr. Addicott" as he was a proud man who held much respect. To his family he was larger than life, a loving family leader, a friend to all, and truly a legend. He enjoyed having company, speaking with his siblings on the phone, and spending time and giving treats to his loving fur companions, Bailey and Benson. However, the three titles he held dearest were that of Husband, Dad, and Grandpa. Glen was predeceased by his parents, Ressie and Glen Addicott; his wife of 58 years, Thelma; four siblings, George, Evelyn, Bill, and Claude; son-in-law, Larry; daughter-in-law, Ann Marie; faithful companion, "Benji". Glen is survived by four siblings, Margaret, Carol, Linda, and Dan, all of Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Paula; his five children, Karen (John) Tompkins of Candor, Tom Addicott of Berkshire, Chip Addicott of Owego, Michelle (Steve) Cocco of Big Flats, Mike (Nikki) Addicott of Trumansburg; seven grandchildren, Kristen (Mike), Leslie (Nick), Nicole (Joe) , Josh (Sam), Greg, Glen, Bradley; 10 great grandchildren, James, Grace, Alayna, Daniel, Nicholas, Lexi, Faith, Joseph, Jackson, and Juliet; great-great grandson, Kyler. The family extends its appreciation for the friendship and support over the past year to his many neighbors, friends, and caregivers. The family will receive friends Friday, December 1, 2023 from 2:00 to 3:45 p.m. with a celebration of Glen's life following at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Phil Jordan, officiating at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Candor, NY. Memorial contributions may be made in Glen T.
