Leigh A. Ericson passed away peacefully at home after a valiant fight against multiple cancers. Leigh was born in Farmingdale, NY on October 25, 1940 to Frank and Claire Ericson. Leigh graduated from SUNY Farmingdale with an electrical engineering degree and had a 30+ year career with IBM. On October 27, 1962, he married the love of his life, Viginia E Proctor (Jinny) and together they had two children. The family moved to Apalachin, NY in 1976 where they still reside. Leigh was a 50-year member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, actively involved in New York DeMolay, and the past President of the Apalachin Lions Club. He was an avid golfer, loved to hunt with his friends and more than anything, loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jinny; his son, Tom (Katy), of Plano, TX; his daughter, Debbie MacLean (John) of Seaford, NY; four granddaughters, Morgan Swenson (Eric), Mackenzie Ericson, Kenna MacLean and Allison MacLean; one great grandson, Oliver Swenson and a great granddaughter due this month. He is also survived by one sibling, Jillian Ericson of Rochester, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Claire Ericson and brother, Frank. The family will receive friends Monday, January 8, 2024 from 2:00 to 3:45 p.m. with funeral services immediately following at 4:00 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY. Burial will be in the Greenfield Cemetery, Hemstead, NY. At Leigh's request, in lieu of flowers, please make a new friend, renew an old friendship, or do an act of kindness for someone in need. Donations can be made in his memory to Lourdes Hospice or the Apalachin Lions Club. The family is grateful for the love and support they have received from their friends "on the hill" as well as countless others that have been with them through this time.
