Herb has been a part of my life from the day he and my Janet dated, married, moved to Norway Valley and owned and operated a daily farm, the boys were born, married, grandchildren. Full circle. Sixty five years. I'll miss him calling me weekly to discuss a variety of subjects, including how long to cook potatoes in microwave! Thank you for the memories Poreda family. "Love you more"

My condolences to the Poreda family. I met the Poreda boys (Siggy, Walter and Donny) at the Kings Hotel in Brooklyn in 1957. At that time, Herb was in the Navy. The boys came to our MYF fellowships in Ozone Park on Sunday nights and then later moved to Ozone Park. Janet Gerbe was one of my best friends and when Herb came home from the Navy, he met Janet and that was IT. I visited Janet and Herb many time in Newark Valley and enjoyed his and Janet's friendship all these years. Herb was a hoot. He always made me laugh. On one visit to the farm, Herb woke me up at 5:00 AM to witness for the first time, the birth of a calf. Herb and Janet are both loved and I know you all miss them, as I do. Have wonderful memories of the summer of 1959. Young friends going to Rockaway Beach, enjoying such a purely innocent time together basking in the sun. The Poredas were essential to this idyllic time together. Did we even know how special this time was? Not then but certainly now. Just wish I could be with you on March 9. Unfortunately have a wedding to attend that day. RIP Herb. Sonia “Pixie” Boyens

Herb was a hard working farmer who was proud of his cows, many of whom were named after family members. That was a lovely thing to do.
