Obituary of Thomas Francis Duffy

Thomas Francis Joseph Duffy, 83, of Owego, NY, died on Sunday, June 26, 2016. Born in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Kennedy) Duffy. He moved to Owego, NY in 1956 to work on the construction of the Owego IBM plant. He met the love of his life, Doris Marshall, in 1957 and they celebrated 58 years of marriage in January of this year. Together, they raised four children; Michael (Melissa) of Scranton, PA, Susan (John) Roy of New York, NY, Margaret (David) Tinney of Richmond, VA, and Sandra Duffy of Avon, CT. He adored his six grandchildren; Ryan (Jenna) Tinney, Meghan (Philip) Bissoon, Allison Duffy, Anna Duffy, Jared Roy, and Jacob Thomas Anderson. He was pre-deceased by his beloved sister, Helen Hinrichsen. Thomas was an electrician for 40+ years and an active member, and past president of IBEW Local 325. He was also an artist, inventor holding two U.S. patents, arborist and so much more. “Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.” A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Most Holy Rosary Church, 2596 Main Street, Maine, N Y. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Owego, NY. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5 to7 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego.
