Obituary of Margaret Karpel Mills

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Margaret (Margie) Karpel-Mills will be home-in heaven for the holidays at the expense of leaving her loved ones to remember her here on earth. She passed November 18, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Margie was born June, 29 1981. She is survived by her husband, Aaron Mills; her parents, Thomas and Margaret Karpel; two sisters, Alice (Jeremy) Shoultes, Katherine (Randy Allmond) Karpel ,in-laws, David and Debra Jones; her best friend forever, Lisa Holliday-Polhamus; many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends and her loyal dogs, Ezra and Kovak. She graduated from Owego Free Academy, BCC, Binghamton University and Syracuse University. Margie and Aaron traveled extensively when they were first married, traveling to Peru, Ecuador, Brazil and all over the US. Afterwards, they came home to settle down and raise a family. Unfortunately, on January 2 of this year she was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of breast cancer. Her faith in Jesus Christ never wavered. Margie will always be remembered as a very sensitive, caring, compassionate person who touched many lives through her cancer journey. Our family would like to thank Dr. Farrell and his staff at UHS Breast Center, Dr. Qin and his staff at Broome Oncology, Dr Haq and his staff at UHS Radiation Oncology, UHS Emergency Room staff for their care of Margie this last year. And the staff at Lourdes Hospice for these last few difficult weeks. And Thank You to all the angels in our community, too many to name here, who sat with her these last few weeks, brought food for months, organized and contributed to fundraisers, and followed Margie on Facebook, encouraged and prayed for her at every step whether it be good news or bad. You all have no idea the impact you had on her life, and we thank you for it. A celebration of Margie’s life will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the New Life Ministries, 201 Hill Avenue, Endicott. The family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Tracy's Hope, PO Box 504, Apalachin, NY 13732. Condolences may be made to Margie’s family at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com.
