Janice "Jan" Morris, 82, of Candor, New York, wife of Donald C. Morris, went to be with her Lord and Savior February 23, 2022, with her family by her side. Janice was born on June 19, 1939, in Endicott, NY, daughter of the late Otto and Iva Quick. Janice spent her early childhood at West Point, NY while her father was stationed there during WW2. The family later moved to Newark Valley where Janice graduated from high school. While at Newark Valley she established herself as an outstanding student and talented musician winning state awards for performance in clarinet and piano. Upon graduating from Newark Valley High School, she attended Nyack College, Nyack, NY, where she met her husband, Donald. Since they were both only children, Jan and Don wanted a large family and they were blessed with six children. Jan loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed gardening, floral designing, baking, reading, crafting, walks in the country, and birdwatching. Jan and Don enjoyed going antiquing, long drives in the country, and vacationing in the Finger Lakes. Jan loved music and passed this on to her children and grandchildren. She also loved writing and published several articles in Christian publications. Jan and Don instilled a strong Biblical foundation in their children and stressed the value of Christian education. Jan is survived by her husband of 64 years, Donald; six children and their spouses, Colleen (Ed) Miller, of Port Crane, NY, Eric (Shelly) Morris, of McGaheysville, VA, Craig (Wendy) Morris, of Littlestown, PA, Carmen (Scott) Snyder, of Owego, NY, Brett (Darlene) Morris, of Owego, NY, Brian (Brandie) Morris, of Candor, NY; fourteen grandchildren, Aaron (Beth) Miller, Sarah (Ben) Kolb, Megan (Tyler) Haggerty, Melinda (Quincy) Amavizca, Mallory (Rick) Johnson, Bradley (Jenna) Morris, Brittany (Pierce) Caldwell, Joshua Morris, Kalynn Snyder, Ryan Snyder, Madeline Morris, Jacob Morris, Jason Morris, Rachel Morris; as well as twenty great-grandchildren. Janice was preceded in death by her in-laws, Charles and Dorothy Morris, and her great grandson, Caleb Amavizca. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Vestal Park Nursing Home and Lourdes Hospital for their loving care of Jan. In honor of Janice's wishes, family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. Condolences may be made to Janice's family at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com.
