Obituary of Georgia M. Smith-Vergason

Georgia Mae (Andrews) Smith-Vergason, 92, passed away at Riverview Manor, Owego on April 28th. Born in Candor, N.Y to Robert and Velma Andrews, Georgia moved to Ithaca in the 60’s and worked for many years in Malott Hall, Cornell University as an Executive Secretary. Georgia is pre-deceased by her first husband, Carlton L. Smith, and her second husband, Everett “Bill” Vergason, sister Mary Dence, and three brothers Roger, Karl and Arthur Andrews, along with three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law. She is survived by her sons, Gregory Smith (Darrylin) of Hampstead, NC, Stephen Smith (Pamela) of Ithaca, NY, and David Smith (Kathryn) of Brewerton, NY, along with 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Per Georgia’s wishes there will be no calling hours. Private graveside services will take place at a later date at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Candor.
