Obituary of Harriet A. Keene

Please share a memory of Harriet to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Harriet A. Keene, 94, of Owego, NY, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2020. Harriet was prececeased by her parents, Milo and Mildred Seaver; her beloved husband of 49 years, Jim; daughter, Sharon Meo; three sisters, Genevieve (Penner) Farnham, Christine Bogert, Phyllis Clark; two brothers, Donald and Carl Seaver. She is survived by her two sisters, Virginia Miller, Dorothy Eichhorn; her special niece and nephews and their children, Debbie and Frank Kucinsky, Bob Farnham, Michael Farnham, Kelle and Matt Motsko, Jason and Cyndi Gowan, Jamie Gowan, Jeremy and Andrea Farnham, Chad Farnham. Harriet was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. The dictionary defines pervicacious as “extremely stubborn, headstrong, wilful or obstinate”. Anyone who knew Harriet well, got to observe all of these qualities whether she was shoveling snow or mowing her own lawn well into her 80’s, or taking pictures of us doing the most mundane things. She was a traveling pro, having visited almost all of the 50 states, Canada, Australia, Singapore and various islands in the south pacific with Uncle Jim. Even her late 70’s found her traveling to Virginia, California and all the way to Guam, solo. Harriet was an adventurous and curious person who chronicled her ventures, whether near or far, with more photos than the rest of our family will ever possess. The void she leaves behind is deep and raw, but we find comfort in our precious memories and sense of peace knowing she is now reunited with Uncle Jim. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Castle Gardens and Riverview Manor Nursing Home for the wonderful care she received over the last couple of years. We would also like to thank Lou Russell for her loving and caring friendship. In honoring Harriet’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. The family will have private services and burial will take place in the Tioga Cemetery. In memory of Aunt Harriet, give the ones you love an extra long hug. She loved giving hugs and receiving them. The family is being assisted by the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home.
