George "Skip" R. Williams, 70, a devout man of God, of Candor, NY unexpectantly went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 16, 2021. He was born on September 4, 1950 in Yokohama, Japan to George E. Williams and Mary Louise Field. George is survived by his children, Lindsey (Bill) Davey, Elaine Jackson, Sarah Williams and Sam Williams; sister, Norma Jean Woods; grandchildren, Thomas, Mark and Shane Davey, Dominic Classen and Jax Jackson; as well as two nephews. George graduated from Candor Senior High School and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1969. He served four years of active duty. At the rank of Sergeant, he transferred to the Army Reserves and served as a commissioned officer until he retired in 1994 at the rank of Captain. He graduated from Alfred State and opened a land surveyors company; eventually being joined by his friend and business partner, Scott Edsall. For many years he also ran a hobby dairy farm. He retired from land surveying in 2015. George was devoted to his children, who loved and respected him immensely. He became involved in the church, Emory Chapel, and became an ordained Pastor to help his friend Pastor Gary Culver. His favorite color was brown. George was a very loved and active member of his community and will be greatly missed. His family will receive friends on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Owego, NY. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 11:00am at the funeral home. Services will be live streamed at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com (click on George's obit). Please note: All state required social distancing guidelines are to be followed. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Candor, NY. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made in George's name to Compassion International at www.compassion.com or to any Christian Charity of the Donor's choosing.
