Obituary of Ellen Haley

Ellen Haley, 78, of Catonsville, MD, and formerly of Binghamton, NY, and Brackney, PA, passed away on July 31, 2021. She was born on November 13, 1942 to Edward and Mae Haley. Besides her parents, Ellen was predeceased by her brother, Edward Haley. She is survived by her children, Lorraine (Edward) Rapp and Leonard S. (Angela) Freiberg, III; sisters, Kathleen Talmadge, Constance (Robert) Cooney, and Florence (Michael) Houston; brother, John (Judith) Haley; as well as many nieces and nephews. She raised two children as a single parent while pursuing an eclectic career. Ellen found her way into sales of micro-computers in the earliest days of home computers before working for the New York Trade Adjustment Assistance Center assisting small businesses to computerize their systems. She ultimately worked for and retired from the Binghamton University Foundation, where she managed their computer networks. Ellen was a loving mother, sister and friend. She was always ready with an open door, a helping hand, or a packed suitcase to travel to support her family, whatever their need. She loved nothing more than hosting people at her house on Pop's Hobby Lake, where she lived for 20 years. Ellen supported her local community through civic organizations and donations. Family will receive friends on August 8, 2021, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Owego, NY. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, 726 Main Street, Friendsville, PA, on August 9, 2021, at 12:00 pm.
