Eugene Gorman, 88, of Owego passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Robert Packer Hospital. Gene was predeceased by his parents, Eugene D. and Anna Hendricks. Gene is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marguerite “Peg” Gorman; children, Richard Gorman of Owego, Mark (Connie) Gorman of AK, Dianne Gorman of NJ, and Donna (Edward) Bestle of Owego; brothers, Robert (Joyce) Gorman of NJ, James (Peg) Gorman of CT, Thomas (Barbara) Gorman of Rochester, and John (Stephanie) Gorman of Queens; ten grandchildren; and two great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Gene was an active member of St. Patrick’s Church in Owego, member of the Knights of Columbus Council 251, member of the Welding and Engineering society. He had a long career as a mechanical engineer specializing in metallurgy and welding. Gene also volunteered for the IESC who traveled to developing third world counties to teach in his field of expertise. A memorial mass with be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, 300 Main St., Owego. Burial will follow at Woodlawn National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Gene’s name to Tioga County Open Door Mission, 425 North Avenue, Owego, NY 13827.
