Obituary of Bonnie Ness Hall
Please share a memory of Bonnie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On June 10, 2022, Bonnie Ness Hall, loving wife and mother, flew into the arms of her heavenly Father at the age of 80 after a brave battle against cancer. Bonnie was born in Fargo ND on January 30, 1942, to Bernie and Beatrice (Grandbois) Ness. A woman of rare spirit and self adventure, she attended Shanley High School in Fargo and St. Francis School of Nursing in Breckenridge, MN, then entered the Peace Corps and nursed in Tunis, Tunisia where she met and married Thomas Cleveland of Scott Center, PA. Their children John and Patricia were born and in 1970-72 the entire family served a second Peace Corps tour in Venezuela. Bonnie and Tom's marriage did not last as they had hoped, and after they parted ways, Bonnie returned to college and earned her BS from Binghamton University while working as a critical care and intensive care nurse. She served in hospitals in Susquehanna PA, Hancock NY, and Sidney, NY, and also taught for the BOCES New Visions program in Masonville, NY. She married Walter O. Hall in 1987 and they made their home together first in Deposit, NY, later moving to the Owego area. After retirement, Bonnie enjoyed wintering with Walter in Bradenton, FL and then came out of retirement at age 70 to open the Quilters' Haven shop in Owego, NY. She will always be remembered for her loving heart, quick wit and adventurous spirit. A member of Lakeview Chapel in Owego, she loved God deeply and trusted Him to the end. She enjoyed reading, quilting, travel, and spending time with dear friends. Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Benetta Ness. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Walter; her children, John Cleveland and Patricia (Todd) Wolfe; stepchildren, Walter, Jr. (Kerry) Hall, Carrie Hall, David (Chrissy) Hall; her sisters, Barbara Ness, Beverly (Cecil) Hendricks; her brother, Bernie (Rhonda) Ness; her former husband, Thomas (Louise) Cleveland; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lakeview Chapel of the Christian Alliance, 185 Day Hollow Road, Owego, New York. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at church. Condolences may be made to Bonnie's family at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are by the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home.
