James E. Horton, 74, of Owego, NY unexpectedly passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022. Jim was born July 23, 1948 in Corning, NY to the late Robert and Ruth (Weiskopff) Horton. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, John Horton. Jim is survived by his stepson, Cory (Lori) Coyne; granddaughters, Juliet and Chloe Coyne; sister-in-law, Linda Horton; nieces, Carrie (Steven) Remillard, Holly (Larry) Horton, Heather McNett; nephew, John, Jr. (Katie) Horton; several great-nieces and great-nephews; sister, Carla Mader; his former wife, Tari Coyne Horton. Jim served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam 6th Battalion 14th Field Artillery where he earned the National Defence Service Metal, the Bronze Star, Army Accommodation with Valor and the Air Medal. He worked for IBM – Endicott from 1980-2001. Jim was a proud member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 480, Owego, NY. He loved fishing and hunting and was a self-taught guitarist with a wonderful voice. He will be missed by his family and those who knew him. A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to VVA Chapter 480, P.O. Box 491, Owego, NY 13827.
