Obituary of James E. Arnold, Sr.

James Edward Arnold Sr., 81, of Owego, NY, passed away suddenly on November 9, 2013. Jim is preceded in death by his first wife, Beatrice Arnold; parents, Thomas and Josephine Arnold; siblings, MaryLou Doty, Thomas Arnold Jr., Harold Arnold, Wesley Arnold, William Arnold, and Billy Arnold; great granddaughter, Madison. Jim is survived by his wife, the love of his life, Pat, to whom he married on November 16, 1968 and they have been married for 45 years; his children, daughter, Brenda Arnold (grandchildren, Joshua, Philip, Patrick; great grandchildren, Avery, and Faith); daughter, Tarry Smith (grandchildren, Larry, and Thomas; great grandchildren, Justin, and Raygen); son, Larry and Beth Arnold (grandchildren, Stacey, Justin, and Simon; great granddaughter, Alyssa); daughter, Wanda and Don Russell (grandchildren, Candy, Rachel, and Donnie; great grandchildren, Alyssa, Taylor, Rylie, Brenden, Dylan, Nicholas, Lindsey, Austin, Jazmine, Deziray, and Maddox); daughter, Cathy Waite (grandchildren, Rebecca, John, and Corey; great grandchildren, Alexandra, Gavin, and Evelynne); daughter, Penny and Mike Henderickson (grandchildren, Shelly, Barb, Mike, Cody, and James); son, Jim and Amy Arnold (grandchildren, Alex, and Kristin); siblings, Jackie and Sandy Arnold, Gary Arnold, Bob and Marsha Arnold, Beverly Spencer, Pepper Schrann, Carol and Bob Cartland, Shirley and Myron Whitmore, Barb and Mike Kerneklian, and sister-in-law, Donna Arnold. His two faithful companions, Dusty and Night-Night, whom miss him dearly. Jim was born in Owego, NY on February 25, 1932. He served in the US Army completing two tours of duty in the Korean War. He is a life-time member of the VFW Post 1371 Owego, NY. Jim worked as a Supervisor at Emerson in Ithaca, NY for 35 years. He enjoyed donating his money to the NYS lotto. He took great pleasure in receiving the “high” with his several wins. Jim is also known by many as the mayor of the street. The funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY with Rev. G. Terry Steenburg, of the First Baptist Church in Owego, NY, officiating. Burial to follow at Tioga Cemetery in Owego. Visitation will be held from 11 to 12:45 prior to the service.
