I too, was inspired by Pat, to join the service. I became friends with him, when he returned to High School, after serving in Viet Nam. We’d smoke cigarettes outside the cafeteria, and share stories. Little did I know at the time, our camaraderie would change my life, in a meaningful way. After graduating, I enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, and that experience, had a huge impact on my life. Years later, at our 40th HS reunion, I shared this story with his sister Eileen (RIP). I asked her to convey my story with Pat, and thank him for being a positive influence, in my life Shortly after the reunion, Eileen messaged me, and said Pat was moved by my story. I am forever grateful to Pat, and send my condolences to his family, as well.

To the family of Pat: I was 16 when I met Pat when he came back to High School after his service in Vietnam. He taught me how to shoot a shotgun and enjoy a good venison steak. He also inspired me to join the service, Marines, not Army, as soon as I could. He also influenced several other young men to join the service in the early 1970's, when it was still considered an expected rite of manhood. He was a good man and a good friend. I hope that he is enjoying a fantastic clear water reef somewhere. Thank you Pat, you were a major factor in some life changing decisions I made. Get Some!
