Obituary of Helen M. McKenna

Helen M. McKenna, age 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Elderwood at Waverly on July 7, 2023. She was born on April 13, 1938 in Rockville Centre, NY to the late Berkeley Gordon Caruana and Virginia Heaslip. Helen married the love of her life, John McKenna on August 9, 1968 and celebrated 52 years of their life together before his passing in 2020. Helen had a deep love for her family, telling stories about her childhood, fishing and hunting, playing board games, and especially Bingo. Her love for the beach never ceased even after moving here from Long Beach, New York. Helen is survived by her daughter, Virginia Goines and her husband Marcus; grandchildren, Tamika, Quanisha, Moniqueka, Keisha, Marcus Jr., Hannah, Byron, Maurice, and Myeisha; great grandchildren, Taliyah and Sora; brothers, James LeRay Caruana and his wife Rachel and brother Charles Thomas Caruana. Along with her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband John McKenna and her sister, Loretta Elizabeth Czaplinski. It was Helen's wish that there be no services. The family is being assisted by Estey, Munroe and Fahey Funeral Home.
