Michael P. McCormick, age 82, formerly of Owego, NY died in the arms of his loving wife at their home on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, in Edgewater, FL. Born in Waverly, New York to Paul and Mary Broderick McCormick. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and sang in the choir; member of Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, St. Vincent de Paul, and The Knights of Columbus, First Degree. Michael had a passion for deer hunting, and loved to golf. He was proud to be Irish and loved Celtic Irish music. Michael was an avid cruiser and went to McKennas weekly. He was a devoted husband, who will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him. Michael is survived by his wife of 13 years, Sylvia; two children, Shawn Patrick McCormick, and Shannon (Steven) Brennaman; six grandchildren, Daniel, Jacob, Caleb, Samuel, Amelia, and Bailey Rose; sister, Mary Lou Connelly; stepchildren, Tracie Mahar and Donna Richard. Michael was preceded in death by his previous wife, Bette Lou West McCormick, two brothers, Paul and Dennis McCormick and sister, Suzanne Munroe. The family will receive friends Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. with funeral services to immediately follow at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY with his cousin, Father Louise McCormick, OFM, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Owego, NY. The family suggests donations in Michael's memory to St. Vincent DePaul, c/o Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 998 Father Donlon Drive, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168.
