Obituary of Hyacinth J. Yee

Hyacinth J. "Cindy" Yee, 88, formerly of Owego, NY passed away Friday, November 24, 2023, in Aurora, Ohio. Cindy was predeceased by her parents, Edmond and Fredricka Prawl; her husband, Joseph Yee (1992). She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Anne Marie (Manny) Martinez - North Carolina, Deborah (Steven) Horst - New Jersey, Claude (Jodi) Yee - Ohio, Robert Yee - New York; eight grandchildren, Eric (Zahira), Kassandra, Amanda, Olivia, Carter, Isabella, Alexa, Jarrod (Gabrielle); three great-grandchildren, Alejandro, Zion and Hyacinth; several brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. Cindy grew up in Jamaica where she married her husband, Joseph in 1956. In 1962, they moved to England where they lived and raised their family for almost 20 years. In 1981, the family moved to the United States and settled in Owego, New York. Cindy worked in food service for many years at IBM, Owego, NY. After retiring, she lived in several locations with her children until finally settling in Ohio, where she lived her last 7 years. She was active in her local community senior center and nursing home, where she loved to sing and dance, attend events, play bingo, do arts and crafts and spend time with her family and friends. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Owego, NY. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 12:00 Noon at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY. Burial will follow in the Tioga Cemetery, Owego, NY. The family will receive friends on Saturday Dec. 9th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
