Obituary of Donald Frederick Weber

Donald F. Weber, 91, of Candor passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023. Mr. Weber was born in Candor, NY to the late Albert G. and Ruth M. (Anderson) Weber. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his two brothers, Howard A. Weber, Robert E. Weber; three sisters, Marian Weber, Irene Cortright, Eleanor Reed. Don is survived by his wife of 41 years, Joanne Goulart Weber; as well as several nieces and nephews. Donald was a 1949 graduate of Candor High School. After graduation he began working at the Candor National Bank, followed by bookkeeper for Ward & VanScoy in Candor. He joined the Naval Reserves in 1951, serving in active duty from 1953-1955. Donald held the position of treasurer for numerous local organizations, including 35 years with the Candor Free Library. He was the Candor Historian from 1980-1995 and served 26 years with the Maple Grove Cemetery. Donald wished to be remembered for his nature photography. He presented over 500 slide shows for a variety of groups, family and friends. Donald was an avid writer, poet, and local historian. Don firmly believed that one needs to do something creative in their lifetime in order to be happy. In honoring Don's wishes, there will be no services at this time.
