John "Jake" M. Davis, 73, of Owego, NY passed away peacefully on January 6, 2024. He is predeceased by his father, Harold Davis; several aunts and uncles. He graduated from Maine Endwell High School, class of 1968. He served for six years in US National Guard. He graduated from SUNY Delhi in 1973. He worked at Tioga Opportunities for 36 years, where he retired in 2013. Jake is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Anne Davis, his two daughters, Jolie Ortu (Chris) and Allison Williams (Jason); The lights of his life, his three granddaughters, Harper, Scarlett, and Everly, he is the "Best Papa Ever"; His mother, Orpha Davis; his brother, Robert Davis (Amanda), two brothers-in-law, Michael Glasgow (Nancy), Eric Glasgow, his nephew, Robert Davis (Alexandra); two nieces, Katie Henderickson (Larry ), Kate Hughson (Jordan); his lifelong friends turned family, the Mouillesseaux Family. If you met Jake you had a friend for life. It didn't matter where or when you met him. He would talk to you as if you had known each other for years. He enjoyed golfing, the ocean, hunting with his Spencer Lake family, horse races, but most of all spending time with his family. It didn't matter where we were as long as we were together and the beer was cold. He will always be remembered for his ability to turn any situation into a celebration with his famous spin move and witty humor. The past 10 years Jake has faced his illnesses head on with dignity and positive outlook. He never complained but continued to enjoy his life with his wife, children, and grandbabies. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Tioga Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in John "Jake" Davis's memory to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
