John Allan "Allan" Watkins Obituary

John "Allan" Watkins, died peacefully at home, May 22, 2024. Allan was born August 23, 1945 in St Louis, MO to the late John and Ruth Jaeger Watkins. He was predeceased by his five siblings, Michael, Shari, Diana, Stephanie, Stephen; mother-in-law, Vera Tripler; brother-in-law, John Henry Tripler. Allan is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, Jane (Tripler) Watkins; two daughters and sons in law, Allison (Tirath) Rai, Buckeye, AZ, Brooke (Jason) Terry, Gorham, ME; two grandchildren, Alicia Terry, Evander Rai; his in-laws, Judy and Larry Katz, Allison and Dave Garelle, George Tripler.

Allan grew up on USAF bases around the world and served four years in the USAF as a Russian linguist on Okinawa. After his service he attended the University of Mass, Amherst on the GI bill. He was employed as general manager for United Water Owego from 1989-2011.

Allan was an accomplished guitar player and a talented woodworker and artist. He and Jane enjoyed traveling and visiting with family and various National Parks. Funeral services will be held privately. Burial will be in Northport Rural Cemetery, Northport LI at the convenience of family.
