Visut Prasarn, MD, 89, of Candor, NY, passed away Monday, June 17, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. Visut was born in Thailand the son of the late Vit and Aree Prasarnphanich. He was one of ten children. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bonnie (Felton) Prasarn; two sons, Paul W. Prasarn, Esq. and his wife Shannon Legge Prasarn, Mark L. Prasarn, MD and Kimberly Sirman; two grandchildren, Alexis and Roman Prasarn; four sisters; one brother; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Visut graduated from the Assumption College, Sriracha, Thailand, Triam Udom High School, Bangkok, Thailand, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand (med), Bonn University, German (Dr. Med), Prince George General Hospital, Cheverly, Maryland (Intern Med), Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania, (Pediatric Residency). He was employed at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, New York, 1967-1979. He was director of Pediatric Education and Chief of Pediatrics. He was an Associate Professor at Upstate Medical School, Syracuse, New York. In 1970, He started the first Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Wilson Memorial Hospital and worked at Broome Developmental Services, Binghamton, New York, 1979-2014. Visut was a member of St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Endicott, New York. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 29, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Candor, New York. Private burial services will be held in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Candor, NY. Condolences may be made to Visut's family at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com.
