Joyce L. Chase, born July 14, 1931, passed away peacefully, July 19, 2024, shortly after her 93rd birthday. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Floyd and Elsie Nelson; two sisters, Gloria Nelson, Janis Hill; brother, Charles Nelson; husband, Joseph Chase; three children, Floyd Houghton, David Houghton, Cheri Knapp. Joyce is survived by her brother, Ralph Nelson; three daughters, Elaine Houghton (George Brady), Brenda Chase (Cecil Hollien), Kelly Chase (Richard Sundquist); fourteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and one nephew. Joyce was a cherished "mom" to many beyond her six children. She enjoyed her phone chats with friends, gambling at the casino, and in her youth, she was an accomplished clogger. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. with funeral services immediately following at 12:00 noon at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 137 Main St., Candor, NY with her cousin, Rev. Phil Jordan, officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Endicott, NY, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Joseph Chase. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joyce L. Chase's memory to the Candor American Legion Post #907, 90 Spencer Road, Candor, NY 13743.
